Location
We are based in Strandhill, County Sligo on the Wild Atlantic Way. An incredibly magic little village known for it’s consistent and world class waves, right on the Wild Atlantic Way, Starndhill’s landscape is incredible. Knocknarea mountain is steeped in myth and legends of the Great Queen Maeve and her kingdom and is the majestic backdrop and power source to everything we do here.

We believe that surfing is a direct path to joy, self-awareness and empowerment. Ultimately it can be a liquid pathway back into freedom.
LEAVE NO TRACE
We operate within the principles of leave no trace as much as is possible. The only trace we leave is laughter coming from our sessions, it’s hard to miss!

Founder
MEET MELANIE
Melanie White, founder and owner of Rebelle Surf started this company because Surfing is fun and powerful! She’s pretty sure after a life time of exploring that Joy is a good path to follow! Rebelle Surf is the only female owned and led surf school on the West coast of Ireland and indeed all of Ireland. Melanie is breaking new ground left right and centre and is excited to share the fun!
Her focus is on connection, expression, strength and fun to help people experience surfing and strengthen their surf skills.

THE REBELLE TEAM
The Rebelle Surf coaches are diverse and each one brings something special to your surf experience. Communication and connection along with world class teaching are all equal priorities in our lessons.
Our team: Melanie, Finnian, Graham, Michael, Deb and Ella – all instructors are ISA approved fully qualified surf coaches, skilled in water safety and lifeguarding skills.
Our team are experienced water women and men in love with the Ocean and the art of surfing deeply. That’s why they’re on the team! We are all different in our surfing styles, boards and backgrounds.

Our approach to surfing is a little different. We know the transformative power of surfing the Ocean. We create a space for you to reconnect with yourself and experience joy. The Ocean is a charged environment that energizes and uplifts us.
After two decade of surfing, exploring and teaching worldwide, we have experienced and witnessed the positivity, raw healing power and joy that the Ocean and surfing bring to the surfer’s life and body.

IN IRELAND
Rebelle Surf is well known for its Women specific coaching and events. We are not a women’s only school however, we teach everyone! Here’s a little background as to why we have women’s groups as well…
“There were few female elders for me to learn from in my early surfing years in Ireland. Women often find the surf environment and culture intimidating and very male dominated. Hence the huge drop off in women surfing.
We’ve created a space to balance this experience by creating groups where women can connect with each other and surf in a different environment before launching into the line up. I’m excited for the new generation to move into a more supported and grounded space to evolve their surfing with strong women around them.’
