GYREUM ECO LODGE
Dubbed “the most extraordinary building in Ireland”, Castlebaldwin’s Gyreum is an all-out ecological marvel: a ginormous camouflaged temple powered by a wind turbine, heated by geothermal energy and watered by tanks of collected rain.
Nestled in the Irish countryside near to Irelands most ancient megalithic site Carrowkeel, The Gyreum aligns with nature not against it. There is 6 bedded dorm, a five bedded dorm, a four bedded loft dorm for the agile, 2 double rooms and 9 x curtained cubicles about the inner hall’s circumference.
Accommodation will be shared and there is a combination of single beds and sleeping pods.
This building is the essence of community, circular living and the perfect location for the Salty Sensations Ireland retreat!
All your fresh vegetables and eggs will be provided by the incredible Knocknarea farm in Strandhill, County Sligo.
Knocknarea Farm is run by Seán & Rob. They run a small mixed farm that works with nature at the foot of Knocknarea. Two young local farmers who are passionate about regenerative agriculture.
Sean and Rob believe Ireland should be able to produce it’s own nutrient-dense food grown in a manner that makes the soil and landscape more abundant and full of life for generations to come.
Using regenerative principles to produce nutrient-dense food for people’s health and well being the food on the retreat will be full of life!
GARY MCCALL PHOTOGRAPHY
Gary is a professional photographer with a huge passion for the sea and the coastal landscape. Specialising in surf, landscape and aerial imagery, he is known for his breathtaking images of big wave surfing and landscape in Ireland. A member of Irish Tow Surf Rescue club Gary can be found out in the middle of the Ocean when the biggest swells hit the Irish coasts.
Mullaghmore in County Sligo absorbs some of the biggest waves on the planet every winter with charging men and women gracing the monster waves there.
We’re beyond stoked to have Gary on board taking stills and video of our surf sessions on both retreats.
