This involves stepping away from judging ourselves, becoming aware of the adrenaline fuelled way of surfing that isn’t a good fit for most women and being honest about how we are feeling when we surf. Starting an open dialogue about the issues women in particular, face in the surf environment is so important. We have inherited a very imbalanced surf culture and it’s up to us to define what our own surf culture is. NOW. Part of this is facing up to uncomfortable truths about how we women often pitch against each other rather than step towards one another.

You must desire your precious sweet energy much more than those to whom you give it away, way too freely, or those who try to steal it. Or perhaps you are the thief who doubts your own supply and takes from another. I now see the reverence and blessing I am learning for my clear strong energy is no different than the love I hold for clean water and clean food and the lengths I will go to find it.
